Syrian, from Damascus; seeking Professional Post Graduate degree in Artificial intelligence and is enrolled at EDHEC Business School.
I am originally from Damascus, Syria, the oldest capital in history. My family background and upbringing have played a fundamental role in shaping who I am today. In particular, my mother has been one of the greatest influences in my life. From an early age, she taught me that education, success, reading, and the desire to understand the world are among the most valuable qualities a man can possess to solve problems. Her belief that her son should become a leader and acquire the best knowledge available encouraged me to take huge risks and make big bets.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that none of us lasts forever. What matters is what we leave behind: opportunities for our families, children, future generations, and our country. I believe kindness creates more kindness, and technology can multiply that impact. My ambition is to use AI to solve real problems, create opportunities, and help build a stronger Syria.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
After a Syrian family helped me pursue my bachelor’s degree at ESSEC Business School, I feel a responsibility to pay their generosity forward by helping students whose circumstances prevent them from continuing their education.
I am determined to develop expertise in AI, data, and economics so I can contribute to rebuilding Syria after 14 years of war. Syria needs people who understand both technology and economics to drive meaningful development. My long-term vision is to establish a university in Syria that provides world-class AI and technology education, empowering a new generation of Syrians to solve problems and help transform Syria into a technological power.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
During my Bachelor’s studies at ESSEC, I volunteered at LNA Santé in France, an elderly residence where residents received specialized care and participated in activities such as gardening and drawing to remain mentally and creatively engaged. This experience taught me to adapt to each person’s individual needs and challenges and showed me how important it is for elderly people to feel valued and emotionally connected. Afterward, I enjoyed the experience so much that I began helping elderly people living near me by taking them for short walks, doing their shopping with them, and supporting them with other daily activities. This experience strengthened my empathy and sense of responsibility.
