Syrian, from درعا /سوريا; seeking Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and is enrolled at Jadara university.
I lost my father before I turned two, and later, my family was displaced from Syria. From an early age, I carried responsibilities to support my family, including my brother, who lives with cerebral palsy. His condition required constant care and patience, shaping our daily life and teaching me how to remain steady under pressure and take responsibility when it mattered most.
I still remember working with carpentry tools and construction materials to support my family. My mornings often began in workshops, surrounded by the sharp sound of saws and the scent of cut wood. Looking at broken pieces, I used to imagine turning them into something useful. Over time, that simple work shaped a deeper vision in me about rebuilding and creating.
While working, I began to notice more than just tasks. I saw how structures came together and how precision made them stand strong. I became curious not only about building, but about understanding the logic behind it.
This experience led me to choose civil engineering, to connect hands-on work with academic knowledge, and to move from execution to design.
Today, I see hardship not as a barrier but as the foundation that built my character and determination. I am now working toward completing my education and building a future where I can turn experience into real, lasting impact.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
I began working on construction sites, where I developed a strong connection with building and tools. This is why I chose civil engineering, not as a new path, but as a continuation of what I have already lived.
I am not starting from zero. I have real experience, discipline, and a clear goal. What I lack is access. Your support would help me move from manual labor to professional engineering, from execution to design, and create a future with lasting impact. I am committed to making this opportunity count.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
After graduating in civil engineering, I plan to return to my community and contribute through practical, sustainable projects. I aim to participate in rebuilding damaged neighborhoods and improving basic infrastructure. I also want to launch local initiatives focused on environmental improvement, such as recycling waste into usable materials and organizing neighborhood clean-up and tree-planting campaigns. In addition, I hope to design and support public spaces that are accessible to people with disabilities. My goal is to combine engineering skills with social impact to create safer, cleaner, and more inclusive communities.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I have consistently contributed to my community through hands-on volunteer work. I helped repair and restore damaged homes for affected families, using my
manual skills to fix doors, reinforce structures, and make spaces livable again. I also supported displaced families by offering physical assistance whenever needed. In addition, I participated in local clean-up initiatives to
improve the neighborhood after displacement, helping restore a sense of stability and belonging. Through these efforts, I focused on responding to real needs using the skills I have developed through years of work.
