Syrian, from Syria; seeking Undergraduate degree in Applied English and is enrolled at Philadelphia University .
My name is Mayas Alabdullah, a 28 years old Syrian girl. I came to Jordan from Syria in 2012. After graduating f high school, financial circumstances prevented me from starting university, so I began searching for where I truly belonged. I worked in different fields while investing in myself through English courses and training in mental health and social work.
Everything changed when I discovered education. I realized that an educator does far more than teach a subject—they inspire, build confidence, and help people discover their potential. That was when I found not only my passion, but also my identity.
In 2022, I founded the English Through Conversation Program, and later worked with educational organizations, supporting learners and growing as an educator. Finding my purpose gave me the confidence to return to university and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Applied English.
Education transformed my life by giving me confidence, purpose, and a sense of identity. Today, my greatest hope is to help others experience that same transformation.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
:
Investing in my education means investing in someone whose life was transformed by education and who is committed to creating that same transformation for others. This scholarship will help me grow as an educator and expand my impact on the lives of young people.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
Education gave me more than knowledge—it gave me confidence, purpose, and a sense of identity. I believe the greatest way to give back is by helping others experience the same transformation. My goal is to create safe learning spaces where young people discover not only a new language, but also their own voice, confidence, and identity. Because education transformed my life, I hope to spend my life helping it transform someone else’s.
