From Zero to Hero: Empowering Youth Through Code with Hello World, I am filled with pride as I share a powerful milestone from my journey with Hello World: the tech education initiative I founded to build skills, inspire innovation, and create opportunities for youth. We’ve just completed our first large-scale course, a 40-hour Junior Web Developer training, and what we achieved together is far greater than just learning code.
Out of 17 students, more than 11 successfully completed the course, growing from absolute beginners to confident junior developers. Over six weeks, they learned to build websites from scratch using core web development technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By the end of the program, our students created personal and team projects that reflect not only their technical skills but their creativity, persistence, and passion.
But what makes this achievement truly extraordinary is the context in which it happened.
These students worked tirelessly amid the extremely difficult conditions that Lebanon is currently experiencing, from the ongoing war and destruction in the region to the crushing economic and social crisis affecting nearly every aspect of daily life. Despite unstable electricity, limited access to technology, and the emotional toll of the surrounding conflict, these young minds showed up, gave their all, and surpassed every expectation.
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, they presented their final websites and what they delivered was not just impressive, it was inspiring. Each project was a treasure, a spark of hope, and a declaration that even in times of darkness, the youth of Lebanon can rise, create, and lead.
I am deeply honored to have walked this path with them. Their success is a testament to their strength and willpower and a symbol of the positive change Hello World is planting in our nation.
As I reflect on this achievement, I see more than websites – I see the future of Lebanon taking shape through code. This is the impact I dreamed of when I launched Hello World: to empower, to uplift, and to be part of building a better future, one student at a time.
With immense gratitude and pride, I say: the heroes of tomorrow are coding today and they’re doing it right here, against all odds.
