Syrian, from Syria-Idlib-Binish; seeking Undergraduate degree in International business management and is enrolled at Lebanese International University.
My name is Nour, a 20-year-old refugee from Idlib, Syria, currently living in Lebanon. I am a third-year Business Management student at the Lebanese International University, working and studying at the same time to support myself and my younger sister, whom I’ve cared for since we lost our parents during childhood.
We were forced to flee Syria in 2011 due to the war. This experience, though painful, taught me strength, resilience, and responsibility at a very young age. I chose to study Business Management because I believe ethical and capable leadership is key to rebuilding conflict-affected societies. I aspire to be part of Syria’s future—someone who helps lead reconstruction and economic recovery.
Managing my studies, work, and family duties has shaped me into a determined, solution-oriented, and compassionate leader. Education is not just a goal—it is my only hope for a better future. With your support through edSeed, I can complete my degree and turn my journey of survival into one of service and impact.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
Donors would fund me because I demonstrate resilience, leadership, and a strong commitment to both personal development and community impact. Despite significant challenges, such as growing up without parents and fleeing war, I’ve maintained focus on my education and volunteering. By supporting me, donors are investing in a driven individual who is dedicated to creating lasting positive change and giving back to others.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
After I graduate, I plan to give back to my community by using my knowledge and skills in business management to create opportunities for others, particularly those facing similar challenges. I will work to establish programs that provide mentorship, education, and resources for underprivileged youth. Additionally, I aim to continue volunteering and offering support to charitable organizations. My business management skills, including leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving, will allow me to contribute to community development and create lasting positive change.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I have volunteered with the MAPS organization and the Life Organization, as well as independently to support children and encourage them not to give up despite their circumstances. My volunteer work included mentoring, organizing events, and providing emotional support, all without compensation to gain experience in my field of study. Additionally, I worked in an office without compensation to further enhance my skills. These experiences helped me develop strong interpersonal and leadership skills, while deepening my commitment to creating positive change in my community.
What Have You Done to Improve Yourself? Awards and Achievements
I am committed to continuous learning and have completed trainings including:
- Business Management Certification – Lebanese International University
- Community Service Certificate – MAPS Organization
- Office Training (Unpaid Internship) in accounting and admin tasks
I support children in my community by encouraging them to overcome challenges. These experiences have strengthened my leadership and communication skills and contribute to my growth as a future business leader.
