Syrian, from Daraa; seeking Undergraduate degree in Business Intelligence and is enrolled at Jadara university.
My name is Rafah, I am 19 years old, a Syrian refugee living in Jordan. I lost my father when I was two years old, and since then, my mother has been my only source of love and safety. Growing up without a father taught me to rely on myself, to stay strong, and to turn challenges into motivation.
When the war in Syria forced us to flee to Jordan in 2012, life became a series of responsibilities. I studied in rural Irbid, walking long distances every day to reach school. Despite the hardship and the lack of resources, I remained committed to my education. During high school, I worked as a tutor to support my family while studying on my own. That experience taught me patience, analysis, and problem-solving — the same mindset I want to apply in the field of Business Intelligence.
I believe that data can change lives when it’s used wisely. My dream is to study Business Intelligence to help organizations make informed decisions that improve education and social programs for refugees and women. Through data, we can understand needs better, reduce waste, and direct support where it truly matters.
Your contribution will help me continue my studies and build a future where knowledge becomes a tool for empowerment. Together, we can turn my journey from survival into one of purpose, progress, and giving back.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
I’m not asking for help out of weakness, but out of faith in my dream. Education is my way to build a better future for myself and my community. Despite financial hardship, I never stopped learning. Your support is an investment in a determined student who turns challenges into impact.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I believe the support I receive from your organization is a responsibility before being an opportunity. I’m committed to sharing the knowledge and experience I gain through volunteering in community and student programs, such as training workshops and digital skills initiatives. During my studies, I plan to work in Business Intelligence to apply my learning in real projects that improve institutional performance. After graduation, I aim to give back by supporting ambitious students, participating in educational and volunteer initiatives, and becoming a positive example of how determination and opportunity can create lasting impact.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I volunteered with the Lutheran World Federation as a tutor for middle school students, supporting children’s education. I also volunteered with Collaberry, contributing to awareness and skill-development programs for youth. These experiences strengthened my sense of initiative, leadership, and community service.
What Have You Done to Improve Yourself? Awards and Achievements
I continuously seek to improve my personal and professional skills through training and self-development programs. I have completed courses in Customer Service, Career Readiness, Financial Literacy, and Life Skills, which helped me strengthen my communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. These experiences prepared me to adapt quickly, support others effectively, and build a foundation for success in both education and future employment.
