Syrian, from Damascus; seeking Undergraduate degree in Biomedical science and is enrolled at Lebanese International University.
I am Shaima, a-20-year old Syrian refugee in Lebanon seeking an undergraduate degree in Biomedical science at the Lebanese International University.
I have two brothers, one in high school, the other other in middle school. My Parents dropped out of middle school which is why they hope they would see us as college graduates.
Two years ago, when I went to register at the university, I hadn’t yet decided on my current major. At the time, I aspired to study pharmacy—it was my mother’s dream. When she was young, she dreamed of becoming a pharmacist, but her studies were cut short. As she grew older, she hoped to fulfill that dream through me. However, pharmacy tuition was beyond what my family could afford, so it wasn’t a realistic option.
Instead, I chose to specialize in laboratory science, a field my mother encouraged because it still allowed her to see me in a white coat. That’s when my journey in this major began. Now, it means everything to me. I am fulfilling both her dream and my own.
I hope you can help support me on this journey—so that you can be part of making my dream a reality. In the future, I aim to give back by helping others achieve their dreams as well.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
My love and passion for science made me believe in myself.
Educational funding will improve the health care system by conducting examinations, detecting diseases and examining them.
I feel that I can make a big difference in society through my study of laboratory sciences because it is the basis for knowing and diagnosing diseases .
Your donation to my education will have a broader impact on my future and the future of the Syrian generation.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
When I work, I will allocate a percentage of my income to fund students who are unable to pay tuition fees.
I will help my community by transferring the skills and experiences I have learned.
Raising awareness about the importance of routine check-ups to treat the disease in its early stages.
I will also raise awareness among all girls about the importance of continuing their education.
Educating people about disease such as diseases transmitted by infection, spoiled food, etc.
