We had to leave our village because of the shelling.
We arrived in Jordan as refugees in 2013.
I worked very hard to continue my education.
I got good grades on my high school diploma .

Dream and Mission Statement:
My name is Ghassan Hammoud. I moved to Jordan with my family in 2013.
I had many dreams in Syria, but I mostly wanted to become a musician
I thought I was going to form my own band, set up my studio, and have performances in my country and around the world.
My dream started to collapse when the first shot was fired in my village; it was ruined even more when the first shell penetrated our house.
We fled for safety first inside Syria. But when the situation worsened, we moved to Jordan.
I continued to think of a way to achieve my dream but wondered how could I become an artist when I'm a refugee. I decided not to give up, I signed up for music courses until I found the "Action for Hope" foundation that recognized my talent. I studied music and oud. I sang well and became a good Oud player.
I continued to pursue my high school education and sat for the high school exams in Jordan, called "Tawjihi". I scored 80.3 on my high school diploma.
I also sharpened my computer skills.
I could have followed in my father's footsteps and became a skilled mechanic. But I want a different life for my self. I have the talent and do not want to waste it.
I decided to get a two-year diploma in sound engineering from the Australian College in Amman. It will be a good source of income and keep in close proximity to the world of performing arts. My tuition is $11K annually.
I hope I can count on your generosity to achieve my dreams.
Why should you fund me?
Throughout my life, I kept my options open but I knew deep in my heart that I want to be a musician and continue to work in this field.
My father had great skills and I could have opted to become a skilled mechanic. But I felt that I had talent that few people had, and felt it would be such a waste not to pursue it.
I believe that success requires skills, practice, and perseverance. Music is a talent that not everyone can claim to have. I feel it is a “trust” we are endowed with to share it with others.
While I continue to carve a place for my self on the music scene, I am still adding a skill, sound engineering that will help me make a decent living and keep me in that circle.
I will leave no stone unturned to get to my goal. Will you help me?.
How do you plan to give back?
Music is a universal language that unites people.
When I graduate, I want to contribute to the education of a music student on edSeed.
I hope I can spread peace through my music, but my dream can only come true with your help and your contribution to my education at the Australian College in Amman, Jordan.
